Solar Power

Since the modules were installed so far from the house it made sense to install the inverters out with the modules. The line loss to run the DC power to the house would have been too great. This shows the four 2500 watt inverters. Each inverter has a a DC disconnect to break the circuit between the modules and the inverters. There is also an AC panel which connects the AC from each of the inverters to the cable running to the house.

The final piece of the installation was the connection to the house's main AC feed. You have to install a disconnect outside by your electric meter. This allows the electric company to have access to disconnect my solar array from the grid should it be necessary. The electric meter shown here will have to be replaced by the utility company. It is a model meter that is designed to prevent theft of electricity; whether it is running forward or backwards, this meter counts forward.
